PATH GROUP TESTING:
It's that time of year to think about group testing! PATH provides group testing of the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) to the students (grades 1-12) of its members. The test will be held Monday-Wednesday, April 23-25 at Sardis Baptist Church in Indian Trail. We normally run the test from 9 am - Noon each day. The test is $44 per student; however, if we get enough participants, we can get a group discount. Please note that we typically at $2 per test for a donation to the church, which allows us to use the facility for free. We also need to add in the cost of taxes. The coordinator of this test is Marie Beavers (MDichoso@aol.com).
If you have questions about the ITBS in general, or if you have questions about preparing for this test, Marie is happy to discuss them with you. PATH has been administering this test for a few years now. New homeschoolers, please note that this test fulfills the annual testing requirement. Other standardized tests can also be used, but the ITBS is the test that PATH offers to its members. You are not required to test in a group setting; however, many families prefer a group setting because it 1) is typically easier to participate in group testing than trying to administer the test at home, and 2) gives the student experience in testing in a group (i.e. you can't take the ACT/SAT at home!).
If you are interested in having your student(s) take the ITBS in a group setting, please email Marie by Wednesday, February 1. Once we have a good idea of how many participants we have, Marie will email the group with the exact price per test, and start collecting checks.
Also, we will be needing parents to be proctors for the test. This is a very easy job, but does require you to have a bachelor's degree (per ITBS rules). No prior experience is necessary. If you are interested in being a proctor, please let Marie know!
